Common questions

Questions Chinese companies ask us

Do you review subcontracts, or only main contracts?

Both. Many risks sit in the gap between the main contractor's obligations to the owner and the subcontractors' obligations to the main contractor, so we review the contracts as one chain.

How are delay claims handled?

Claim management starts on day one: timely notices, daily records and an updated programme. We help set this up, prepare and negotiate the claim, and represent you if it becomes a dispute.

What about bank guarantees?

We review guarantee terms before they are issued, and advise when a call is made or needs to be challenged, including urgent proceedings where needed.

A dispute between the main contractor and the owner — where do we start?

With the contract and its dispute mechanism: does it provide for arbitration or the courts, and what notices and time limits apply first? We then assess the evidence and choose the right route: negotiation, arbitration or litigation.

Which language do we work in?

We work with clients in English or Arabic and prepare the official Arabic documents local authorities require. A certified Chinese translator can be engaged where needed.
